Laura Patsko is a language consultant, maker, speaker, writer and traveller – not necessarily in that order.
As a language consultant and trainer, I help professionals in diverse industries to use English effectively as an international language, focusing on those features and strategies which lead to communicative success in international settings.
As an artist and maker, I work mainly with textiles and card. Many of my projects are inspired by the geography and cultures of particular places, reflecting what I’ve learned and experienced while travelling.
Like all creative and curious types, my interests are quite diverse. What links them all is the thrill of discovery: I’ve always enjoyed exploring, learning and sharing new skills and insights with others. I find that the best work happens when ideas and experience from different fields of expertise are brought together.
When I’m not in a workshop (in either the training or arts sense), I’m usually outdoors – walking, running or learning about trees and birds. My favourite birdsong is probably that of the tui, a native bird of New Zealand (Aotearoa). I’m currently still working on running 5k in under 26 minutes.
